K+B+N vs KCheckmate Endgame
Checkmate with Bishop & Knight
Key Concept
Drive king to correct corner
How to Play This Endgame
The most difficult basic checkmate. The king must be driven to a corner that matches the bishop's color. The W-maneuver (or triangle technique) forces the king from the wrong corner to the right one. This takes up to 33 moves with perfect play — cutting it close to the 50-move rule. Many strong players have failed to deliver this checkmate under time pressure.
