N+PP vs N+PPKnight Endgame
Knight Endgames: Outposts
Key Concept
Centralized knight dominates
How to Play This Endgame
A knight on a central outpost (a square that cannot be attacked by enemy pawns) is extremely powerful in endgames. Unlike bishops, knights can control squares of both colors. A well-placed knight on e5 or d5 can dominate a bishop in closed positions. Knight endgames often revolve around establishing and maintaining outposts while denying them to the opponent.
