K+P vs K+PPawn Endgame
Pawn Endgames: Triangulation
Key Concept
Losing a tempo with the king
How to Play This Endgame
Triangulation is a technique where one king maneuvers in a triangle to lose a tempo and put the opponent in zugzwang. Your king takes three moves to reach a square it could reach in one, effectively passing the move. This technique converts many positions that would otherwise be drawn. It appears simple but is one of the most missed winning techniques in club-level chess.
